Tax Names

The Tax Names page lists various names for taxes that apply to the goods and services for sale, and taxes that apply to items the user purchases. Usually, the same type of tax applies to items sold and purchased.

Users can perform the following under Tax Names:

  • Create tax names

  • Modify tax names

  • Activate tax names

  • Deactivate tax names

Creating Tax Names

Users can create a new tax name by performing the following steps:

Click Setup ➜ Global ➜ Tax ➜ Tax Names.

Click the Create New button. The New Tax Names page appears.

Refer to the following table and fill in the fields:

Description

Identifier

Enter the name of the tax.

Is Active

Flag that indicates whether the tax name is active or inactive. By default, this flag appears toggled on (active) when creating a tax name and cannot be toggled off. This flag can be toggled off to deactivate the tax name when opened for modification. Once toggled off, the deactivated tax name will be displayed on the Tax Names page only if the Show Active Only flag is toggled off.

Is Default

Flag that allows users to select the location as default location.

Click Create.

Modifying Tax Names

Users can modify existing tax names by performing the following steps:

Click the ellipsis under Actions corresponding to the preferred tax name.

Click Edit. The Edit Tax Names page appears.

Modify the required details.

Click Update.

Deactivating Tax Names

Users can deactivate existing tax names by performing the following steps:

Click the ellipsis under Actions corresponding to the preferred tax name.

Click Deactivate. The system prompts the user to confirm the deactivation.

Click Confirm.

Activating Tax Names

Users can activate a deactivated tax name by performing the following steps:

Toggle off the Show Active Only flag to view the deactivated tax names. The deactivated tax names appear.

Select a deactivated tax name.

Click the ellipsis under Actions corresponding to the preferred tax name.

Click Activate. The system prompts the user to confirm the activation.

Click Confirm.
